Featured Mural Fit-Out Projects
These featured projects represent a deeper layer of mural work, where art, architecture, and spatial planning come together in truly integrated fit-outs. Each mural isn’t just a surface treatment; it’s part of a broader design ecosystem involving sculpture, layout flow, interior styling, and even landscape considerations. From custom-built installations to the careful coordination of lighting, materials, and client vision, these projects go far beyond decoration and become immersive design experiences.
What sets these fit-outs apart is the thought process behind them. Every decision, from colour choice to mural placement, is shaped by how people move through the space, how light interacts with surfaces, and how the artwork can elevate a commercial or residential environment from functional to unforgettable.
You’ll see examples where murals are supported by sculptural elements, custom epoxy flooring, heritage styling, and reimagined architectural features. Whether it’s designing around a counter space, framing an entry walkway, or bringing cohesion to an open-plan interior, these projects are built on a unified design language.
This collection is a true reflection of what I do best. It’s about translating creative vision into physical space, where mural art becomes the element that ties the entire fit-out together.
Design Led Murals and Interior Fit-Out Art
That Completely Define the space
Dribbles Burgers Interior Fit-Out – Full Mural Integration
This full-scale interior fit-out was developed for Dribbles Burgers as part of a complete restaurant interior. Designed and painted by Set It Off, the project blends vibrant mural work, postmodern influences, and practical design integration, delivering an immersive functional space that’s bold, cohesive, and built to last.
The concept was brought to life in collaboration with Aydn.co, who provided the initial layout scope, and the builder, who hand-selected raw materials to suit the budget and vision. My role involved leading the interior fit-out art direction; including custom murals, logo design, colour mapping, and sculptural flow across multiple sections of the venue.
From the vivid entry walkway with custom street-style fencing, the journey flows through four distinct zones: the check-in stairwell, front servery, kids’ play area, and a sports lounge fitted with live game visuals. Each mural section was carefully colour-coordinated and composed to wrap architectural features and guide the customer’s movement through the space, layering tone on tone while balancing visibility with depth.
Inspired by elements of futurism, neoplasticism, and elementarism, the design balances high-impact visuals with usability. The murals aren’t just painted features, they’re integral to the spatial rhythm, ambience, and branding of the venue.
The end result is an art experience that draws people in and keeps them exploring. It’s a fit-out that’s equally engaging for kids and adults, with low-maintenance finishes and timeless underground street appeal. In short: a restaurant interior that hits harder than expected, artistically, atmospherically, and commercially.
Vietnamese Restaurant Fit-Out – Interior Mural Sculpture Installation
This installation is more than just a mural, it’s a full-scale interior transformation that blends street art, sculpture, and spatial design to recreate the energy and detail of a Vietnamese street scene. Commissioned by District Mot and curated by Set It Off, this project features a hand-painted mural layered with sculptural elements, reclaimed materials, and intricate architectural detailing to resemble the facades of Vietnamese buildings.
Spray paint, recycled furniture, old timber, and balcony lighting were all carefully selected and repurposed to build wall-mounted sculptures and faux storefronts that echo the textures of Hanoi and Saigon. Every surface plays a role in the narrative, from weathered signage to custom-made windows and doors that wrap around the dining space.
I worked closely with the owner, to capture not only the visual character of Vietnam but its cultural essence. His insight helped shape key elements like color palettes, layout, and material selection. The result is a seamless fusion of mural work and physical art for a full interior fit-out where every detail contributes to an immersive customer experience.
This project is a strong example of how art and mural fit-outs can bring identity, emotion, and authenticity to a hospitality venue, turning blank walls into an unforgettable journey through culture and craft.
Retail fit out art can benefit a wide range of businesses—fashion boutiques, cafés, salons, gyms, wellness studios, and more. Any brand that wants a memorable, custom-built visual identity can benefit from hiring a professional shopfitter artist. See an example here.
Absolutely. I offer detailed concept sketches for shopfitter artwork and draft mockups for retail fit out art, allowing you and your shopfitting team to review and approve the design before work begins. I can also provide 3D interior design mockups. See an example here of a Draft before installation.
Retail fit out art is tailored to commercial requirements—designed with foot traffic, brand colours, lighting, and layout in mind. It’s not just decorative, it’s strategic. The artwork supports the customer journey and elevates the in-store experience. See an example here of art integrated into the fit out.
Yes, a shopfitter artist like myself regularly collaborates with shopfitters, architects, and designers to ensure the artwork is cohesive with the space. This results in custom installations that align with your layout, materials, lighting, and branding. See an example here.
Shopfitter art refers to murals and visual installations created to align with a retail space’s architectural and branding goals during a commercial fit-out. Custom mural design for shopfitters goes beyond decorative painting, it’s about designing artwork that’s tailored to the layout, finishes, and concept of the shopfitting process. By working directly with shopfitters and design teams, I ensure the mural enhances the store’s atmosphere, supports brand identity, and is seamlessly integrated into the retail environment. This type of collaboration turns a functional space into a visually compelling customer experience. See an Example Here.
Mural pricing for commercial spaces like retail fit-outs depends on the scale, design intricacy, and materials involved. Shopfitter art is a custom service, not mass-produced, so costs reflect the tailored approach, craftsmanship, and durability. Whether it’s for branding, ambiance, or feature design, the investment enhances both customer experience and business identity. I offer options that suit different budgets without compromising artistic quality.
The essence of installation art is transformation. It’s not just about what you see on a surface, but how the entire environment feels. Art changes how people experience a space, emotionally, physically, and visually. My goal is to design murals and sculptural elements that don’t just decorate a space, but define it.
While installation art is diverse, these five characteristics of installation art are often present:
-
Site-specificity – designed for a particular location.
-
Interactivity or immersion – invites viewers to engage with the space.
-
Use of mixed media – combines various materials and techniques.
-
Spatial awareness – integrates with architectural elements and layout.
-
Narrative or conceptual depth – tells a story or expresses an idea beyond aesthetics.
In my fit-outs, these characteristics are tailored to each project — whether it’s a restaurant, retail space, or residential interior.
Discover the meaning of installation in art and how it transforms environments through immersive, site-specific designs. What does installation mean in art? The definition refers to a three-dimensional artistic practice designed to transform how a space is experienced. In art, installation involves multiple elements such as sculpture, painting, lighting, and found objects, all working together to create an immersive environment. My approach to installation art is to connect custom pieces, like murals or sculptural forms — with the physical structure of the space. This means walls, floors, and architectural features aren’t just backdrops, but active parts of the artwork itself. See an Example Here.
Garage Interior Fit-Out – High Detail Wall & Floor Art Mural
This bespoke mural installation was created for a private garage space themed entirely around Ducati. The goal was to elevate the garage for a Ducati Man Cave storage with a design-driven environment that reflects the speed, power, and precision of the Ducati brand. Every detail of the mural, from colour palette to composition, was crafted to align with the sleek high-performance aesthetic of Italian motorbike culture.
To extend the visual impact, the artwork continues from the wall onto the floor. I used a custom epoxy flooring system, combining unique application techniques and heavy-duty finishes to ensure durability, grip, and long-term performance under real garage use. The surface not only complements the mural’s design language but holds up to the demands of tyres, tools, and weather fluctuations, making it practical as well as beautiful.
What makes this project stand out is its commitment to concept. The artwork isn’t just decoration, it’s a complete installation experience that immerses the viewer in a Ducati-inspired space. The transitions between wall and floor were carefully mapped to maintain visual flow from every angle, enhancing the sense of depth and striking movement to the room.
This fit-out is a powerful showcase of how interior fit-out art can be used in unconventional environments. It demonstrates how artistic expression with meticulous planning can create a custom-built Melbourne art installation that transforms not only the walls but the floors with them.
